By Lia Laskaris, Animal Alliance of Canada
Just over a year ago, my husband and I were staying at a farm sanctuary / B & B. Quite by chance, Liz Marshall and her partner Lorena Elke were also staying at the B & B. Through the niceties, we discovered that we were already introduced, we just hadn’t met. It turns out that Liz had called the Animal Alliance office, trying to get a hold of people who had adopted beagles we helped save from a university lab. She wanted to interview them for her film – The Ghosts in Our Machine.
We had a wonderful weekend together and have kept in touch. The Ghosts in Our Machine is an incredible documentary. Their release date is early 2013.

With the exception of our companion animals and a few wild and stray species within our urban environments, we experience animals daily only as the food, clothing, animal tested goods and entertainment we make of them. This moral dilemma is often hidden from our view, and 99% of consumers are complicit.
