Thank you , Precious Paws, for peace of mind
Precious Paws Rescue is a non-profit, all-breed dog rescue based in Barrie, Ontario, dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets by rescuing from pounds and shelters across North America. These dogs come from situations where they are at risk of euthanasia – most often due to lack of space in a pound or shelter.
The need for rescue groups, like Precious Paws, illustrates that there is still quite a bit of work to do to elevate the value of non-human animals, animals that are sold, used and discarded like a pair of dirty old socks. Saving Dinah is about the affirmation of non-human life. It is about not one of us, but an “ordinary” citizen’s growing realization of what might be thought of as the thin edge of a wedge of awareness of the dark side of our interactions with animals.
If it weren’t for Precious Paws Rescue, it’s hard to say what would have happened to Ares. Fortunately for this pup, we don’t have to think about what could have been.
Ares is a 1-year old Doberman who was rescued from a backyard breeding situation. This good looking boy is now getting some much needed socialization in his foster home, while he waits for his forever home.
He is crate and house trained, alerting with a whine or circles when he needs to go out, walks well on a leash, and is progressing splendidly under his foster’s tutelage. He is learning some basic obedience, an appreciation for curling up in a warm blanket on the couch, and the joys of a stuffed Kong. This adorable 47-pound boy has a full tail and soft, floppy ears, and his foster describes him as VERY SWEET, with LOADS of potential.
Ares resided with a number of dogs, cats, and horses in his previous home. He would do best in an adult-only home or one with older children as he is still nervous. He gets along well with most dogs, and is very good with the cats in his foster home, respecting their boundaries. He will do very well someone who is committed to his ongoing socialization, obedience training, and taking him on daily walks.
Do you want to be Ares’ lucky adopter? If so e-mail Precious Paws today for an application. His adoption fee is $350, which includes vaccines, fecal test and deworming, wellness bloodwork and heartworm test, neuter and microchip.
From all of us at Animal Alliance / Saving Dinah, thank you to the precious people at Precious Paws for opening their hearts and homes to dogs in need. Keep up the great work!
